Molenaar Agriculture first began planting and selling peonies in Virginia in 2010. After many years of selling their cut stems as a part of a horticulture consortium, it became clear the climate and soil in Virginia is an excellent match for peonies. 

 

After acquiring our newest fields in 2018, Peony USA was born. Our goal to bring peonies to all gardens big and small was underway! Leaving the consortium gave Peony USA the same ability to manage every aspect of the process, from planting & growing through harvest & delivery. This fundamental tenant of the Molenaar family tradition is crucial to maintaining the same superior quality control used at our parent company in Holland.
